MATCH REPORT: Home vs. Boulder RFC

September 15, 2015

The Highlanders played a heavily contested and physical match against Boulder this past Saturday, September 12th at our home field at Jacobs Park. Kyle Gross opened up the scoring with a nice run across the try line, getting the Highlanders out to an early 7 point lead.  Boulder would not be silent for long and brought the score to within two, fighting back to make it a 7 to 5 game. The remainder of the first half would see both goal lines heavily tested, but tough defensive play by both teams made for some hard earned points the remainder of the game.  The Highlanders went into halftime down 7-10 but fought back early in the second half with a hard fought try from winger Rocco Petramala and a scrambling, tackle-breaking score from center Michael Backens. Flyhalf Adam Price further added to the scoreboard, after finding an opening and covering forty meters with an amazing burst of speed to score the Highlanders' fourth try of the game. Adam also converted all four team tries of the game to bring the final score to 28 to 17 at the referee’s final whistle.  Congratulations goes to Rocco Petramala for winning Man of the Match. The Highlanders will look to use this two week break to improve their play and sharpen their skill sets before their first league game against the Northside Marauders on October 3rd.
