Denver Highlanders' Old Boys

The Denver Highlanders' old boys are a diverse group of players who continue to play, tour, and reminisce about the good old days. We have guys like Mike "Light the Fuse" Hughes, who turned 70 last summer.  Not exactly a young boy, but he’s out for touch on Thursdays and still goes on tour! Many of the active players look forward to turning 35 so they can partake!  Guys like Clinton Camp are playing for the A side, but are also out playing with us in Vegas during the  HSBC Sevens World Series.  The core group is made up of Highlanders that have been with the club for 10 plus years and are bound together by the positive social aspect of the club.

The old boys typically set up a couple of matches with local teams and do at least one tour per year.  For the past couple of years we have kept our tours short and sweet.  Our typical tour usually involves at least one match with the hosting club, a lively kangaroo court and of course visits to as many of the local establishments as possible!  Two summers ago we were hosted by the Aztecs in San Diego. Not only did we have a great game, excellent grub and drinks at the aftermatch party, but the highlight was the scenery on Mission Beach.  Last summer we were hosted superbly by the Portland Pigs.  Did you know…  Portland has more brew pubs and more strip clubs per capita than anywhere in the world?  Gotta love that city, and thank you Portland Pigs!

The old boys' main activity during the summer is touch rugby at Pulaski Park in Cherry Creek.  We typically finish up the night at The Irish Hound for a couple of cold ones.  Whether we play touch or not (winter), we typically meet for drinks and dinner on Thursdays at the Hound!  Come on down and grab a cold one with us!
